It often displays flow structures and can be found in various colors, such as orange, brown, gray, red, or white. Due to its viscous, silica-rich magma, rhyolite eruptions are often explosive, producing ash, pumice, or lava domes, and the resulting rock is characterized by its small grain size from rapid cooling.
